A new album by Requiem For Humanity is due for release on the Amusia Music label on 1st January 2026.
Norse mythology is a rich source of stories and inspiration for musical compositions. The album, Echoes of Asgard, is the first of a two-album project from Requiem For Humanity designed to establish some of the main characters, namely gods and goddesses. The second album, Yggdrasil’s Echo, intends to cover the Norse description of the end of the world, Ragnarök.
It has been estimated that the Norse may have worshipped up to seventy gods. To dedicate a song to each would create a slightly longer than usual album. On this album seventeen deities have been selected. Hence, there are thirteen chosen deities with a track for each on Echoes of Asgard.
Those chosen are the gods Odin (the king), Loki (the trickster), Thor (the mighty), Freyr (the fertile) and Tyr (the brave). The Norse goddesses are represented by Freya (goddess of love), Frigg (wife and mother), Hel (goddess of the dead). Of the numerous other gods some key supportive characters are also included, namely: Njord (god of the sea), Heimdall (watchman of the gods), Balder (the beautiful), Idunn (guardian of the apples of youth), Skadi (goddess of frozen lands), Sif (wife of Thor) and the three “Norms”, the goddesses of human destiny, Urd (the past), Verandi (the present) and Skuld (the future).
